• Light walnut brown ground color, with a series of rhombuses, with a dorsal median major axis,

darker than the background and delimited by whitish scales.

• It grows to a maximum length, about 1.8 m.

• It has solenoglyphous teeth (poison-inoculating fangs), that is, it is a species

poisonous.

Reproduction:

• It is an ovoviviparous species, that is, the young are born from eggs that are incubated in the

inside of the mother

• At the age of two, females are ready to mate.

• Females of some species have the ability to store sperm

during a period of eight months before the start of pregnancy.

Feeding:

• It feeds mainly on small mammals such as rats, mice, squirrels, and may

occasionally include larger prey and sometimes consumes lizards.

Distribution:

• Found from Mexico to Costa Rica, including Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras

and Nicaragua.

• There are many separate populations in South America such as: Colombia, Venezuela,

Guyana, Suriname, Guyana, eastern Brazil, southeastern Peru Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay,

northern and central Argentina.

• Locality is type "America".
