The guabina is a freshwater fish belonging to the family Erythrinidae. It abounds in almost all America.
The males can reach 30cm. Its body is elongated, rounded with declination towards the tail, it is provided with small scales, in its head it is easily appreciated its large mouth and its small eyes, arranged in the upper part, the fins have a rounded appearance, it constitutes a great swimmer .
The general coloration is brown with dark spots which allows it to camouflage easily in the background.
