• The glands of this crocodile cause them to secrete excess salt in the form of tears, allowing it to clean around its eyes with this solution.

• The morphology of the American crocodile is conical and is provided with a powerful tail, it has a resplendent olive green color.

Reproduction:

• The ideal months in which these animals mate are January and February, when they have reached sexual maturity at the age of 6 years.

• In this nest it will lay around 35 to 50 eggs, and it will have an incubation period of 2 to 3 months. At the end of the laid eggs usually survive only 1% of them.

Feeding:

• They are carnivorous, the diet of this species is based on all kinds of mammals, birds that come to quench their thirst, crabs, insects and snails.

Distribution:

• Its distribution includes the southern Gulf of Mexico, the Greater Antilles, except Puerto Rico, and the coasts of Central and South America.
